Something Fishy…

Filed under Uncategorized by caucasianasians on 22-03-2010

During the past few weeks, we’ve been delighted to learn how to make fish Asian-style.

First, go to the market and point at a fish swimming in a bucket.

Second, watch as the fish lady knocks the fish out with a cleaver, then uses another tool to scrape the scales off.

Third, watch her slice the fish down the middle and remove the innards. She will then scrape something from its top gills and throw it into a plastic bag for you to take home and cook.

Enjoy!

There’s nothing like a Christmas Party with noodles

Filed under Uncategorized by caucasianasians on 27-12-2009

We combined our classes for a Christmas party, after teaching about Christmas for a few weeks. We played a game, had an estimation jar, and asked students to bring food. Noodles, sunflower seeds, hard-boiled vacuum-packed eggs, and biscuit-cookie-crackers abounded. Students wanted to make sure the two of us got plenty to eat, and they crowded us, putting food into our hands and forcing it to our lips on occasion. We had a great time.

We played a game that we’d seen before. We lined up many Christmas objects on a series of desks under some cloths and towels. We selected four students and asked them to leave the room. Then, one by one they re-entered the room and had to work their way down the series of objects, saying the English name as fast as possible. The final object was Austin’s head, which screamed at them as they removed the cloth. Austin was hiding under the desks with his head poking out between 2 of them. The students loved it!
